What are your plans on Sunday?
If you don’t have any plans yet, I’ve got you day organised for you! If you already have plans, cancel them! Because this Sunday, the 13th of September is Perth’s first ‘Italian Wine & Food Festival’. The American and I have been lucky enough to be invited to the event and have scored media tickets via simonemckenna.com so I will be blogging about our experience at the event and I don’t want you to be jealous. Yes, I will be constantly uploading photos on every social media account possible of the most delicious food, wine and aperol spritz, so don’t just sit back and wish you had a ticket- buy one today!
This one-day event aims to create a new generation of Italian wine and food lovers through education, experience and connection. A star line-up of chefs, journalists, and sommeliers, will give festivalgoers their best to let the passion for Italian wine, food, and culture come through. Alongside the Festival Tasting Hall, which is the main feature of the day there are also a lot of must do activities taking place.
Festival Tasting Hall – With tastings available from more than 200 premium Italian wines, you will have the chance to revisit some of your favourites and also try new ones. Don’t miss the chance to chat to the experts and learn about traditional grape varieties, regional history, emerging trends and evolving wine making techniques.
Wine Classes – Experts such as Carles Aymerich (Print Hall), Tomy Danska (Single Vineyard Seller), Stafano Madau (Must), Michael Tamburri (La Vigna), Piero Tantini (Godot Wines), Max Veenhuyzen (Gourmet Traveller), John Jens (Lamonts Wine Store) and many more, will guide you in a one hour journey in the world of the finest Italian wines.

MasterChefs favourite Josh Catalano, guest chef Danny Russo from Sydney, Perth golden chef Joel Valvasori and the Italian stars Maurizio Di Ciano, Giuseppe Pagliaricci and Egidio Squillace, are ready to unveil their secrets.
If you need to find me- you know where I’ll be!
Food Talks & Italian Lessons – Join journalists and chefs chatting about their favourite topics in food & wine, get a signature on the new Harry Ferrante’s book Gastronomia Down Under or perhaps even try to order your meal using the perfect Italian.
Food Market & Aperol Garden – Sample and shop from a wide range of premium Italian foods such as fresh bread, salumi, cheese, gelato, coffee, and locally grown fruit and vegetables. Finish off your shopping by relaxing at the Aperol Garden with a glass of Spritz, the ever popular Italian cocktail. (This is where the American will be!)
