For those following me on snapchat (simone.mckenna) or Instagram (@simonemckennablog) you would know about my latest obsession with “spin” classes at the Cycle Bar in Easton.
I took my first class here in late November when a friend from the gym invited me to come with her as she was able to “bring a friend for free” and thought that I might like it. She was right! I left my first session feeling sweaty, inspired and sure that I would have to sign up for some more classes.
That same week I treated myself to 10 passes for future classes. I was very lucky in that the Cycle Bar in Easton was running a “New Riders Special” so I could take up the offer of a seriously discounted rate! And to this day, I am so glad that I did.
So what is CycleBar?
Cycle Bar is an indoor cycling boutique that provides its guests with energizing rides tailored to all fitness and experience levels. From the moment you’re greeted by their professional and courteous staff, the CycleBar experience is unmatched by any other. David, the owner, is so welcoming and was greeting me by my name from the very first session and continues to do so every session.
Cycle Bar is more that just a “spin class”. The team take care of everything, so all you have to do is show up, clip in, and ride. They provide shoes for no extra charge and play host every session by providing water, coffee, fruit and snacks. Whilst you’re riding you have complete comfort knowing that your belongings are safe thanks to their complimentary lockers that have coded keypads. They also have changing rooms and shower facilities that offer a “hotel experience” complete with robes, hair ties, wet clothing bags, and branded toiletries for you to use! Be sure to check it out!
Anyway enough about all the extras… let’s talk about the actual classes! There are a variety of classes on offer with the CLASSIC being the most popular, primary ride. The CycleBar Classic offers a perfectly choreographed mix of upper body work, hills and drills and is guaranteed to make you sweat! Although, there are so may other awesome classes with DJ Rides, Mashup Monday, Throwback Thursday, Happy Hour, Brunch, Concert Series, MOJO Rides, and other rocking rides on the schedule. I have convinced Scott to try the Bruno Mars Concert themed ride with me on Saturday- it will be his first time but I know he will love it!
The classroom (known as the CycleTheatre) creates a motivating environment with enhanced lighting, awesome beats and the opportunity for you to unleash your competitive side, not just amongst the community of riders, but also with yourself! CycleStats is a personal performance tracking device that shows your speed, power, RPM and calories burned which is displayed on your own personal monitor and is also emailed to you at the end of each session. On occasions, the instructor will flash these stats up on the monitors at the front of the room so you can see your class ranking! Although I am never in the top few, I love receiving these stats in my inbox so that I can push myself to beat my own personal best!
Honestly, don’t let me try to persuade you or convince you as to just how incredible the CycleBar is- come and try it for yourself! It will leave you feeling inspired, motivated, and invigorated and of course…wanting to do more classes!
