Whilst we were walking around Bondi Junction, my sister and I stumbled across Lady J Cafe. Actually in all honesty, we were searching for a completely different cafe, but found this place instead and decided to give it a go as it had warm heaters and a menu to die for!

TIMG_0688he dimly lit cafe and wine bar had gorgeous decor and fabulous customer service to match. We were greeted my our waiter and shown to our table opposite the bar. We ordered our coffees before taking a look at the menu to make our choice. I also checked out the amazing display of cakes at the counter- freshly baked muffins and the caramel slice really caught my eye but I was after something a little more substantial.

We came around noon to find that their breakfast menu was still operating as well as their lunch menu, which made both my sister and I extremely happy as she wanted lunch and I (of course) wanted breakfast.

It was cold outside so I chose the 5-grain porridge ($11) which was a delicious combination of quinoa, oats, bran, spelt and linseed topped with chia seeds, coconut flakes and fresh blueberries, with a side of natural yoghurt and organic honey. It was absolutely to die for and in a never-ending bowl. Not very often do I leave any food on  my plate, but I could not finish this bowl of porridge! It was not too sweet which made the honey and blueberries the perfect accompaniment.

Amy ordered the Southern Fried Chicken Roll ($16) which was buttermilk fried chicken, coleslaw, swiss cheese and fig jam in a toasted bun. The staff actually recommended this dish, it is a favourite amongst their diners they said.  As we sat for a while enjoying our meals, we realised that they were right- every second order that came out of the kitchen was this chicken roll.

We loved our time at Lady J’s as it had he perfect atmosphere without being too busy. The meals were extremely well priced and the service was friendly too. Would highly recommend it to anyone in the Bondi area!
