Last Wednesday, a friend and I were meeting up to check out her newly built house in Beeliar. We decided that the weather was too incredible to simply stay inside, so before we went to check out her new home, we opted for a brunch catch up in the sunshine at Surfing Lizard Cafe.
The cafe is attached to the Coogee Surf Club and what looked to be a gym. The outdoor seating had a combination of tables in the sun or tables shaded by large beach umbrellas as well as the odd seating inside the small interior. We wandered inside to get a menu to look over and although I can appreciate that the staff were busy, we were not acknowledged!
After looking over the menu, I decided on simply poached eggs on toast whilst Steph went for the bacon and egg bun. The menu wasn’t huge but there seemed to be a good combo of sweet and savoury choices, so there should be something for everyone. When I went to the counter to order, I asked for poached eggs on non-buttered wholemeal bread (as the menu read as buttered toast!) and of course, a long black!
When our meals arrived, a short time after our coffees-my order consisted of two pieces of buttered white ciabatta loaf! As we had already waited for some time- I decided to just eat what I was given, but I will admit that I was pretty disappointed!
Although our meals weren’t bad, with the combo of average service and the mistake with my meal, I’m not sure whether I would return again. Being so close to Fremantle, there are many other places that I would rather dine at for breakfast in the sunshine! It was a bit disappointing as we were in the market to find Steph’s new “local” for her coffee run and Sunday breakfast! We will keep looking!
