Last night, I went out for dinner with the “fitspo” girls from my gym. The seven of us decided to catch up for a night out without our sneakers and weights gloves to indulge in a delicious dinner at Cobblers Falcon. Cobblers Tavern has recently reopened after a pretty extensive renovation. Although a sports bar and bottle shop, it also boasts an impressive restaurant that concentrates on fresh local produce, in a relaxed atmosphere with friendly service. Their menu can be found online, which delivers many options from wild boar, pork, fish, beef and chicken for mains not to mention month watering selection of both entrees and desserts. Although, Cobblers has an extensive wine and beverage list, there were not many options by the glass, which prohibited by choice.
We had reserved a table for 6.45pm so were shown to our table on entry. After being given our menus and drinks list, our waitress was back within minutes to take our drinks order. I couldn’t decide as there was none of my first preferences in either red or white by the glass. I decided to wait until I had decided on my main meal before placing my wine order. Another at our table ordered garlic flat bread for entree which was more than generous in serving size and smelt delicious. I didn’t try any but no one either raved not complained about it!
Our mains order was placed after a short wait. Four of us open for the Grilled Chicken Salad with maple bacon, avocado, feta, cherry tomatoes, roasted sweet potato, almonds, wild rocket, and ranch dressing. ($25) I ordered mine without bacon and with the sauce on the side. Another two friends opted for the Confit Pork Belly with caramelised scallops, cauliflower croquettes, red apple and crackling. ($36) Another friend ordered the Wild Boar Fillet which was wild boar croquettes, butternut puree, kale, goats curd and smoked maple. ($38). The waitress reread our order, we confirmed and ordered some more drinks before settling into conversation whilst waiting for our meal.
Unfortunately when our meals arrived, we were disappointed as they had forgotten the Wild Boar! The wait staff didn’t acknowledge that we were a meal short and we had to call them over to ask where it was. After speaking with the kitchen staff, our waitress came back and said that “it wouldn’t be long’, not even admitting that the order hadn’t been placed and unfortunately forgotten. We all began eating, well all except Lats as she was still waiting the poor girl. Finally, after most of us had finished our dish, the Boar came out. The staff gave her a complimentary bowl of fries for her wait, but as we didn’t want fries- they were left untouched! In saying this, all our meals were presented beautifully and tasted great too! My salad was fairly plain, with a small amount of grilled chicken, but still delicious.
Once our empty plates had been taken, we sat chatting until our waitress returned to take our dessert orders. Although the desserts sounded incredible, I couldn’t eat another thing! Three of the girls ordered the Peanut Butter Fudge Ice cream which was beautifully presented in a huge mason jar and topped with chocolate brownie pieces, nougat and salted caramel. Another friend went for the Meringue served with mandarin curd, passionfruit cream, mango sorbet and strawberry jelly. Again, all the dishes were presented perfectly and more than generous in portion size.
After a wonderful night, we all rolled out of Cobblers Restaurant feeling more than satisfied with our meals. To make things better, Cobblers through in Lat’s dessert (the meringue) complimentary as she had to wait so long for her main meal. We were happy with that! I mean, mistakes happen and it didn’t in anyway ruin our night. The staff were more than apologetic, always ensured we had water on our table and were readily available to take our drink orders throughout the night.
If you are in Falcon- swing by Cobblers!
I will definitely return in the very near future to taste some of the desserts that’s for sure!
