What an awesome first dining experience we had at Zoup! in Westerville.
Ever since arriving in Columbus a few months again, (and driving past it daily on my way to the gym) I’ve been dying to try it out. Being so hot in Australia, we really don’t have a need for soup specialty stores, so I was more than excited to finally mark it into my diary.
When we first entered we found a small both for two before heading to the counter to place our order. The server was enthusiastic and friendly and asked us if we were new to Zoup! As we were, she explained that they have made a name for themselves due to their extensive soup selections. They always have 12 soups on offer which rotate daily. Today’s specialities were the chicken pot pie and the loaded potato! Zoup! not only offers but encourages taste testing of all their different soup varieties, so we sampled a couple of options each before deciding. I love this idea as I was tossing up between the Tomato & Cabbage soup or the White Bean & Turkey Soup. After tasting each, I opted for a side of the White Bean & Turkey, although they were both delicious!
Another great thing about Zoup! is that their menu include soups that are low-fat, vegetarian, dairy-free, spicy and made with gluten-free ingredients AND all the ingredients and macro counts are listed on their website! WA HOO! Our server explained that each soup is served with a hunk of freshly baked bread, a choice of sourdough, french or multigrain. So with that information I could make the best decision and changed from my original craving of a soup and sandwich to a soup and salad…I am so glad that I did as it was incredible!
I ordered the half serve of a “Loco Burrito Salad” which consisted of romaine lettuce, grilled chicken, cheddar, pico de gallo, avocado, fajita lime sauce, & topped with corn tortilla strips. I asked for the serve of chipotle ranch dressing on the side- which is how it came! Winning 🙂
My meal was a little of $11 but enough to feed me twice. I should have asked to box half of my salad as I had eaten more than enough with my serving of bread and soup but of course I demolished the lot!
Cant wait to return to try even more delicious items on their menu! Next time I think I’ll go for their grilled cheese sandwich with a side of tomato and cabbage soup!
