On Sunday after our Step Up for MS stair climb challenge, a friend and I headed out for a well deserved, post-workout breakfast. As we were right in the city at Central Park Tower for the charity climb, we decided to check out the local grub.

We decided on La Veen Coffee & Kitchen due to it’s central location, glorious decor and vibrant buzz. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and shown to a quaint little table in the far corner of the building. La Veen is home to an extensive coffee counter, laden with the most delicious sweet treats and fronted by some seriously good-looking baristas. It is located inside a heritage listed building, which adds to its antique and dark setting, although the feel and menu is rather modern, with many gluten-free and vegan options available.

We were both starving so  were very quick to make our decision. I opted for the Potato Rosti, topped with poached eggs,  avocado creme, beetroot remoulade and smoked salmon. Torey decided to build her own breakfast, opting for scrambled eggs on a toasted bagel with a side of goats cheese feta, bacon & avocado. We ordered some drinks to start- an extra hot long mac for myself and a strawberry/lime/apple juice for Torey, which arrived in no time at all.

When our meals arrived, we were so happy with the presentation and portion size. My food was so delicious; the beetroot was sweet and the perfect addition to the potato rosti. Oh and the eggs! They were cooked to perfection. The service was friendly and attentive. The staff were always ensuring that we were happy with our order and had enough coffee/juice to last our stay.

As we were paying for our bill (a total of $57) the staff member was asking us questions about our charity climb and congratulated us on our achievement. We had the most amazing time at La Veen and I would love to return again soon, as the coffee was by far the best I’ve had in  quite some time!
