On Saturday night, the American and I decided to treat ourselves to a cheat meal of Pizza! We decided upon Solo Pizzeria in South Perth due to their incredible selection, prices and reviews.
On arrival, we were greeted by an authentic Italian waitress who although busy, was so polite, cheery and helpful. She showed us to a table for two inside the small, dim yet welcoming restaurant and allowed us reasonable time to look over the menu before returning to take our order.
I ordered the “Vegipollo” ($19.50) which read as a 13inch pizza base4 topped with Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella Cheese, Mushroom, Capsicum, Chicken Pieces, Onion, Kalamata Olives & Herbs. Scott opted for the Quattro Stagioni ($19.50) which was again a 13inch pizza base topped with Tomato Sauce, Mozzarella Cheese, Mushroom, Mild Cacciatore Sausage, Artichokes, Capsicum & Herbs. The restaurant was BYO, but unfortunately we didn’t realise that until we arrived and there were no bottle shops within close walking distance, so we settled for bottled water- although a glass of red would have been the perfect way to compliment our meal!
When our pizzas arrived, I was delighted by the size! Large yet thin and crusty the way I like it. Not too many toppings to make it soggy but enough to fill me up. Scott demolished his pizza and then tucked into mine as I couldn’t finish it. I did have 5 pieces though which is a fair effort for me! I absolutely loved my pizza, although I must admit the chicken pieces were scarce! Scott raved on about his and admitted that his choice was better than mine, but he would say that as his was covered in red meat whereas mine wasn’t!
The place was consistently busy with take away orders and the occasional dine-in customers. Everyone who ate in ordered a pizza each (from what I could see) so I would definitely recommend a pizza each, you can always ask to take the rest home if you don’t finish it! Don’t be put off by the size, as it was actually really light. I guess as it is wood fired and not baked in oil, it made it more bearable and easy to enjoy.
