The Beaufort Street Merchant on Urbanspoon This weekend is my friend Sarah’s Hen’s Weekend. After a late night of dancing, we were craving the perfect coffee and breakfast- which lead us to “The Beaufort Street Merchant” in Highgate, Perth. I wish I could say that we simply stumbled across this hidden gem, but I would be lying.
Clearly this cafe is renowned for their incredible atmosphere and fantastic flavours, as the rest of Perth was here too…and
I’ve actually enjoyed breakfast here before with the American.

The Beaufort Street Merchant has a laid back vibe, with staff dressed in casual clothes with a smile as the only sign of uniform. On arrival we were greeted and shown to a recently vacated table, which was quickly wiped down by our energetic waiter. Before even having to glance at the menu, our waiter was keen to take our coffee orders and supply us with water. I always love my coffee order being taken straight up on arrival, so I can enjoy it whilst leisurely browsing the menu. The coffee was delicious and extra hot- the way I like it!

The Beaufort Street Merchant menu was more than impressive with my head getting muddled with decisions! By now you’ve probably noted that when it comes to ordering my food, I’m fairly indecisive. I always want to try everything and my eyes are always bigger than my stomach! Luckily our table was close to the kitchen so we could view several meals coming out prior to ordering. One of my friends opted for the crumbed egg, whilst the other went for the truffle mushrooms. I was completely undecided- especially when the waiter was even more accommodating by telling me that I was able to actually build-my-own breakfast. The Beaufort Street Merchant were more than happy for me to substitute things on the menu (for example: spinach instead of bacon or avocado instead of tomato- whatever you want to eat… will provide). However, since I have a cooked breakfast every morning anyhow, I decided to try out one of their specialty dishes the Spanish Eggs. (Merchant beans, onion, chorizo, baked egg, chilli creme fraiche, gremolata and toast.)

All three meals were delivered to our table at the same time, each looking as delicious as the others. Check out the photos above to see each! I was more than happy with mine. The presentation, taste and quantity could not be faulted- in fact, I couldn’t even finish my meal which is very rare for me! All three of us were extremely happy with our meals. Our only qualm was that we were too full to try their delicious display of cakes, slices, cookies and pastries!

It was the girls first dining experience at the Beaufort Street Merchant… but certainly not their last. We can’t wait to return to check out their lunch and dinner menus- oh and dessert too!
