WOW- who knew a grain of rice would be such a controversial issue at the moment, or so it seems. After posting my recent food diary photo on Instagram, I had so many people email or respond with questions in regards to my choice in white rice.  No- it wasnt photo shopped- I eat basmati rice. In fact I eat over 500g of it EVERYDAY! BASMATI IS A HEALTHY ‘SUPER-GRAIN ’Basmati is gluten-free and low in fat. It contains all eight essential amino acids, folic acid, and is very low in sodium and has no cholesterol. Basmati also has a low to medium glycemic index, meaning that energy is released at a slower, steadier rate leading to a more balanced level of energy.

Basmati rice is a lot easier to digest than brown rice due to the fibre content. If you are interested in reading more CLICK HERE!

BASMATI TASTES DELICIOUS
Basmati rice has a light and fluffy texture and a slightly 'nutty' taste too (if you ask me). In fact, even the aroma is delightful!

BASMATI IS EASY TO COOK WITH
Basmati grains expands more than twice its dry length during cooking. Unlike other types of rice the grains only expand lengthways resulting in the grains retaining their long slender characteristic when cooked. As the rice has a light and fluffy texture, this allows the rice to absorb other flavours, making it super easy to pair with meals of all cuisines and purposes. It actually cooks faster than brown rice too!

So there you have it... the basic few reasons why white rice- Basmati in particular- is my choice in grains over brown rice and others.
